Youngsters prosper at Hampshire Schools' Junior Champs

I reported on the success of the club's athletes at the county schools' championships in Portsmouth and in turn at the English schools' championships last weekend. It was the turn of school years 7 (U13) & 8 (U14) pupils to be in action at the county schools' junior champs in Southampton on Wednesday. The club's athletes, representing their school districts, took home 5 county titles.
nStar of the show was U13 boy Max Bothamley (U13 academy) who won the shot put in a new club record of 9.20m with Thomas Beck (Andy Fisher) coming 8th. Ethan Skipwith (Andy Fisher) won the 1000m in the same age group in a race where Seth Noott (Nick Anderson) was 3rd. Zach Reynolds (Andy Fisher) was 2nd in the howler throw which was arranged as there was no discus or javelin competition.
nFor the U14 boys, Timon Francis (Elias Mtshweni) won the long jump title and Ruben Price (Nick Anderson) was 2nd in the 800m with Will Hasan (Nick Anderson) 4th in the same race.
nIn the U13 girls age group Poppy Taylor (Nick Anderson) won the 1000m title with Grace Baker (Nick Anderson) in 8th. Lucia Bertacchini (Andy Fisher) was high jump champion and training partner Chloe Poore (Andy Fisher) was 2nd in the 600m. Bethan Bewick (Dave Sherry) was 6th in her heat of the 80m.
nFinally in the U14 girls age group, Rebecca Hutchings (Nick Anderson) was 3rd in the 800m.
