Record breaking performances at South of England age group champs

The club’s record breaking year continues as it took home no fewer than 12 medals at the South of England age group (U13/U15/U17) champs at Kingston last weekend.
nThere were no entries in the U17 womens age group after a couple of niggles prevented our older girls from taking part.
n In the U17 mens age group Charlie Elford Pond (coach Martin McBriar) continued his fine season with another throw over 50m to take silver in the hammer. Alex Beck (coach Mark Upton) is also having a good first season in the age group and improved his pb further to 52.24 secs to finish 6th in the 400m final.
nThe U15 girls age group were in prolific form, none more so than Arabella Wilson (coach Andy Fisher) who took bronze in the shot putt and 200m and silver in the long jump with a mighty leap of 5.48m which makes the jump the furthest by a female of any age in the club’s history. Bella was also 8th in the javelin. Erin McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) also visited the podium more than once with bronze in both the discus and the hammer. Abi Belward (coach Andy Fisher) also took bronze in the HJ and went 3rd in the club’s all time list with a putt of 10.52m for 7th place in the shot putt. Abi was 10th in the LJ. Frankie Moulds (coach Andy Fisher) was 6th in a high class LJ competition and was 7th in her 100m semi-final. Carys Jeffries was 6th in her 100m semi-final and 7th in her sprint hurdles semi.
nFor the U15 boys, Oscar Webb (coach Tony Bateman) took silver in the HJ and was also 5th in his heat of the sprint hurdles in a new pb. Ruben Price (coach Nick Anderson) was 6th in Sunday's 1500m final but will be back again the age group next year.
n The U13 girls saw the club secure its only gold medal as Lucia Bertacchini (coach Andy Fisher) took the High jump title with a new pb of 1.46m which puts her 3rd in the UK rankings. Lucia also won long jump silver and was 4th in the 200m final. Beth Mballa (coach Heather Sheffield) putted a huge new pb of 9.39m to win shot putt bronze and break the club’s age group record. Abi McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) was 5th in the same event also with a big pb. Isobel Jordon (coach Andy Fisher) was 8th in the sprint hurdles final, 7th in her 100m heat and 6th in her 200m heat.
nFor the U13 boys, Ethan Skipwith (coach Andy Fisher) took a bronze medal with a new pb in the shot putt and Ethan was also 4th in the sprint hurdles final and 5th in the 800m final. Zac Reynolds (coach Andy Fisher) was 8th in both 100m and 800m finals.
