U13 records updated
I have now got to the penultimate age group in terms of updating the club records for this year, this being the U13's. For the U13 boys, there were a number of new event records created because of the decision of the YDL to reduce the U13 boys distances from 100m to 75m from 200m to 150m and from 1500m to 1200m. This has created lots of new all time top 3 performances but obviously we will need to wait a few years for the events to gain some maturity and the records to be more meaningful, nevertheless the record holders who competed this season deserve their place on the lists. For the other records, there were 3 stand out performers these being Zac Reynolds (coach Andy Fisher) who broke the clubs 800m record and went 2nd on the pentathlon list. Ethan Skipwith (coach Andy Fisher) who broke the pentathlon club record and went to 3rd on the UK rankings as well as going top 3 in the sprint hurdles and 1500m lists. Max Bothamley (coach Andy Fisher) was the 3rd U13 boy to break a club record in taking the shot putt record in winning the Hampshire schools junior championships in July. Laurence Hutchinson (coach Paul Cox) went 3rd in the shot putt lists as did Sam Evans (coach Andy Fisher) for the pentathlon.
nThe U13 girls was an outstanding age group this year. Poppy Taylor (coach Nick Anderson) broke the clubs 800m record as well as going 2nd in the 1200m & 1500m lists. Lucia Bertacchini (coach Andy Fisher) went all time top 3 in no fewer than 8 events. Lucia broke the clubs 200m record and the 4 x 100m record alongside Bethan Bewick (coach Dave Sherry), Chloe Poore & Lily Flute (both coached by Andy Fisher), and went 2nd in the all time lists in the 75m, 100m, 150m, long jump, high jump & pentathlon.
nBethany Mballa (coach Heather Sheffield) broke the clubs shot putt record as well as going 3rd on the all time list for javelin and discus but special mention must go to Abi McBriar who went 2nd in the all time javelin list but also broke the clubs discus record with a throw that puts her by some margin on top of the UK rankings a special achievment indeed.
