Abi wins South of England title

Abi Belward (coach Andy Fisher) finished the year in great style by winning U17 womens gold at the South of England indoor Combined Events champs at Lee Valley on Saturday. Competing alongside training partner Carys Jeffries, and for only the 2nd time in the U17 age group, 14 year old Abi turned in her usual consistent performance across all 5 events including a pb in the 60m hurdles to finish on 2949 points to take the title and go 2nd on the clubs all time indoor age group lists. Carys recorded a top 10 finish with 2394 points to finish in 10th place.Lucia Bertachinni (coach Andy Fisher) competed in the U15 girls age group on the Sunday and finished in an impressive 6th place, particularly as she will be back again next year in this age group. Lucia who is only 12 years old, broke the clubs indoor age group 800m record to go alongside her 300m record and also went top of the shot putt lists. To add to a consistent day, Lucia went 3rd on the clubs all time indoor HJ & LJ lists and her points total of 2367 points was good enough for 2nd place in the clubs all time age group lists behind Emma Buckett.
