Oliver adds 20cm to pole vault best

Oliver Thatcher (coach Andy Fisher) finished his first indoor collegiate season in some style by celebrating a new pole vault best of 4.10m as part of the indoor heptathlon at the South Atlantic Conference indoor championships at the weekend.Taking advantage of the excellent training facilities at his university in North Carolina, Oliver has improved his vaulting pb by 50cm since moving to study in the States and sits 2nd in the clubs all time indoor list behind specialist vaulter Charlie Maw.The rest of the heptathlon didn't go entirely to plan but Oliver now looks forward to his first collegiate outdoor season followed by a return to the UK in the Summer break.
