Club finish 2nd in first UAG YDL match
U17 & U20 young athletes from the club travelled with our composite partners City of Portsmouth AC to Hillingdon athletics track for the first of our upper age group Youth Development league matches on Sunday. We currently sit in league 1A South effectively the 2nd division of this competitive league along with 6 other teams with promotion on offer for the league winners to the South premier league and relegation to division 2A to the bottom two teams.A great atmosphere was generated ahead of the match as any of the team travelled by coach and the team arrived in good spirits. There were a series of fantastic performances throughout the day and far too many to mention but I have included some notable highlights below. These performances resulted in a 2nd place finish behind the local composite team of Harrow AC & Dacorum AC although it should be said that we were the highest points scorers in the field events highlighting the fact that the clubs jumps and throws are in very good order. Here are some of the days highlights.Rohan Gray (coach Mark Upton) U17M sprint double including a rapid 11.1 in the 100m going 2nd in the clubs all time age group list.Grace Weeks (coach Gary Bettridge) U17W 2nd place in the 80mH in a blistering 11.9 also going 2nd in the clubs all time age group list.Charlie Elford-Pond (coach Eric Davison) U17M win in the shot putt breaking the clubs age group club record with a putt of 14.62m.Ollie Withers (coached out of club) U17M win in the 400m with a time of 51.7 going 3rd in the clubs all time age group list.Arabella Wilson (coach Andy Fisher) win in the U17W 200m in 25.2 going 2nd in the clubs all time age group list and going 2nd in the clubs all time LJ list with a leap of 5.59m.Winning an event at this level represents a fine achievment and there were also A string victories for Charlie Elford Pond (U20M hammer), Max Turner (U17M LJ), Sam Mballa (U17M discus), Erin McBriar (U17W discus), Grace Colmer (U20W HJ) and the U17W 4 x 100m and 4 x 300m teams. The results will be posted to the following link and we look forward to match 2 in Bournemouth on the 29th May.https://www.ukydl.org.uk/page4...
