Record number selected for English Schools
This year an astonishing 19 WADAC young athletes have been selected to represent their county schools team in the English Schools Championships taking place in Manchester on the 8th & 9th July.
nThis exceeds last years record breaking number and congratulations to the athletes listed below and their coaches, who have been chosen for the Hampshire schools team except where shown otherwise. Over the last 5 years or so, we sent 13 athletes last year and then in the previous 4 years sent between 3 to 7 athletes.
n For the Senior girls (U19) Lily Neate (coach Nick Anderson) has been chosen in the 3000m with Grace Colmer (coach Andy Fisher) selected for the LJ.
nFor the Senior boys (U19) Harry Crosby (coach Andy Fisher) has been selected for the LJ.
nIn the Intermediate girls team (U17) Grace Weeks (coach Gary Bettridge) has been chosen for the 80mh with Carys Jeffries & Arabella Wilson (both coached by Andy Fisher, Bella competing for Surrey schools) chosen for the 300mh. Mia Judd (coach Tony Bateman) has been selected for HJ with Amy Wall (coach Andy Fisher) chosen for LJ. Abi Belward (coach Andy Fisher) has been chosen for shot putt with Erin McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) chosen for discus.
nIn the Intermediate boys team (U17) Alex Beck (coach Mark Upton) has been chosen for the 400m with Ollie Withers (coach Andy Fisher, Berkshire schools) selected for the same event. Harry Wilson (coach Nick Anderson) is chosen for 1500m with Charlie Elford-Pond (coach Eric Davison) selected for hammer. Rohan Gray (coach Mark Upton) was originally selected for the 100m but has withdrawn with injury.
nFor the junior girls (U15) Lucia Bertacchini (coach Andy Fisher) has been selected for the 300m, Rebekah Smith (coach Andy Fisher) for the 75mh, Lois Moore (coach Andy Fisher, Somerset schools) has been selected for HJ, Gracie Osman (coach Andy Fisher) has been chosen for LJ and Abi McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) for discus.
nIn the junior boys age group, (U15) Ruben Price (coach Nick Anderson) has been put on the reserve list.
