WADAC Magic Mile 2022

The Magic Mile has been an annual highlight of the endurance calendar for a number of years and we are delighted to have it back after the hiatus of the pandemic. It's a lot of fun, a rare opportunity to race over the mile distance and a chance to match up with team-mates and training buddies....no prizes, just bragging rights.
nDespite a few call-offs and injuries we had 44 competitors taking part and a healthy mix of seniors and juniors with one or two Dads being put in their places by the emerging talents of the junior ranks. The event was organised into 4 heats and athletes seeded so that there was close racing for everyone and many close finishes on the line.
nOur heat winners were: Andy Winterbottom (4'31), Henry Edwards (4'58), Matt Gleed (5'39), Ben Carr (5'46).
nCategory winners were:Jnr female - Poppy Taylor (5'12) ; Jnr Male - Ruben Price (4'52)Snr female - Kate Green (5'48) ; Snr Male - Andy Winterbottom (4'31)Vet female - Sarah Gurney (5'55) ; Vet Male - Tim Smales (4'46)
nDetailed results are here: Magic Mile
nThis and all athletics events are reliant on volunteers stepping forward to organise and officiate and we are particularly grateful to Kate Green and her team - too numerous to mention but not least of whom were Stuart Horsewood, Kathryn Miles, Cathy Kinnear, Sam Parkinson and Matt Lavers.
nProceeds from this event have been shared between two local charities, Friends of the Family and Naomi House & Jacks Place.
