Seniors win 3rd SAL match to top league table with one match to go

SAL Round 3 at Andover
n
nWOW that was a hot one!
n
nEven in the heat Winchester performed to their best again. Every event, bar one was filled.
n
nWe had a few new faces in this round, so well done and thank you to Sian Lewis 800m, Emma Shedden 400mH & Relay, Kate Green 3000m, as well as Jo Jefferies that had just turned up to watch, but was coerced into running 3000m.
n
nWe had the biggest team of non-scorers on the day. Great to see so many of the team competing even if they are not scoring the points.
n
nEven in the extreme heat PBs were achieved by quite a few. Congratulations to Gus Bowden in High jump, Alex Beck 400m, Will Boutwood 1500m, Harry Wilson & Harry Harvey 800m, Ben Chesterfield Steeplechase, and Rose Chesterfield also Steeplechase, neither of who had run that event before. Sorry if I have missed anyone.
n
nTo end the long hot day there was again some fabulous teamwork in the relays. We were able to produce a male and female for 4x100m and 4x400m relays, and won them all.
n
nA BIG shout out needs to go to our officials helping on the day. It was not easy as there were not enough officials for the events. But our team worked tirelessly to cover what they could in the heat. Thank you to Stuart Horsewood, Jane Robertson, Kathryn Miles, Chris Westwood, Ernie Chambers, Alex Miles, Gareth Lewis, who was also competing on the day, as well as Jess Gordon. Again sorry if I have missed anyone.
n
nThe Last round is on home ground, so let’s make it a great finish to this seasons SAL competition. There is talk of some of the distance runners filling throwing event spaces as a few of our athletes will be away.
n
nResults for the day are as follows:
n
nWADAC 248.5
nSWINDON 198.5
nANDOVER 78
nTEAM KENNETT 61
