Good turnout for junior tri group at Andover Triathlon

Seven junior triathletes braved the heat to take part in the Andover Triathlon on Sunday. This is a really well run event, held at Farleigh School and relatively local. Not part of the series this year meant that the atmosphere was more relaxed and a great event for our more novice triathletes. The bike and run course is also very visible for spectators, making it exciting to watch.
nAmber Price was our sole female competitor and took a fabulous 2nd place in her second triathlon event this year. Theo Hoath also managed a Top 3 with 3rd place in TS2 boys. This is Theo's first season of racing triathlon and he is learning quickly. Ben Boyd and Tom Price also raced strongly, finishing 11th and 18th respectively.
nWith most of the big hitters having a weekend off, it left Ethan Skipwith, Ruben Price and Jarryd Claydon-Folley to battle it out in the TS3 boys event. Ethan had a strong swim and T1, starting the bike in the lead but over the 6km Jarryd gradually drew him in meaning they started the run together. Ruben, held up with gearing issues (we blame Dad) started the run a little way behind. An exciting race ensued with Ethan dropping Jarryd early in the run and just managing to hold off a fast approaching Ruben.
nNext week is last in the series, at Eton Dorney with Top 3 male in the TS3 series battling it out for the series win and a few battling it out for the 4th TS3 IRC spot. Special mention to junior tri and endurance group runner, Kali Ruffell-Moreira who competed at the South East Region Open Water Championship's this weekend, coming 13th in a sprint finish after 3km with a time of 45.12.
