Mia goes 2nd on clubs all time HJ liists

20 Winchester & District young athletes represented the Hampshire athletics team in the South of England U15 & U17 inter-counties match in Oxford on Saturday.Star of the show was Mia Judd (coach Tony Bateman) who won the U17 womens HJ with a leap of 1.70m and in doing so went to 2nd on the clubs all time HJ lists and this was also a new age group club record. Mia also goes 3rd in the current UK age group rankings. Also winning their event in the U17 womens age group was Erin McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) who won the discus with a throw just short of her pb. Amy Wall (coach Andy Fisher) was 7th in the LJ and Abi Belward (coach Andy Fisher) was 4th in the shot. On the track in this age group, Abi took the same 4th place position in the 300m hurdles, Grace Weeks (coach Gary Bettridge) was 4th in the sprint hurdles and Carys Jeffries (coach Andy Fisher) was 5th in the 400m.For the U17 men, Charlie Elford-Pond (coach Eric Davison) was 2nd in the hammer returning to +60m form. Sello Mtshweni (coach Elias Mtshweni) was 5th in the pole vault and Sam Mballa (coach Heather Sheffield) was 7th in the triple jump. On the track, Ollie Withers (coach Andy Fisher) had a day to forget as he was disqualified for a lane infringement in his 400m heat.In the younger age group for the girls in the field, Beth Mballa (coach Heather Sheffield) was 6th in the shot in a new pb of 9.81m. Abi McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) was 3rd in the javelin just outside of her pb and was 5th in the discus. Evie Scott (coach Martin McBriar) had a big breakthrough throwing 4m further than she has before to record a throw of 34.11m which was good enough for 2nd place. Gracie Osman (coach Andy Fisher) was 3rd in the LJ. On the track, Elsie Brindle (coach Dave Sherry) was 7th in the 200m final and Lucia Bertacchini (coach Andy Fisher) was 6th in the 300m final.Finally in the U15 boys age group, in the field Samuel Smith (oach Elias Mtshweni) was 3rd in the pole vault and Sam Nicholson (javelin coach Martin McBriar) was 9th in the javelin. On the track, Oliver Wye (coach Mark Upton) ran a new pb to be 5th in his heat of the 200m, Ruben Price (coach Nick Anderson) was 4th in the 1500m and bravely stood in for an injured athlete in the 300m where he finished 5th in his heat. Fabulous to see so many WADAC athletes in the Hampshire teams who for the U15 age group were managed by head of throws Martin McBriar.
