Senior men out in force at Aldershot X-Country

Back in black and gold for the first league race of the season, a competitive field is always a dead cert at Aldershot. Thunderstruck in the past, this year saw blue skies and deliriously warm temperatures. For those about to run it was short spikes and limited mud and first home for WADAC was last season’s award-winning Will Boutwood in 12th place. He was backed up by Adrian Fautly in an impressive 17th and Guy Brayn in 26th. Paul Tobin, a very welcome visitor to Dan Cunnington’s birthday celebrations and most recent member was next across the line in 29th, followed closely by Ben Findlay in 33rd. A steady stream of black and gold entered the finish tunnel, Jacques Caignard, 3rd vet overall, Joe Driscoll, birthday boy Dan Cunnington and yet another WADAC 1st timer, Jonnie Williams.
nEvergreen Pete Sampson was 2nd of the vets to finish with Rich Bidgood close behind. Jon Vintner was the final runner to make the top 90 of this very strong field. Harry Williams, Mags Gregory and Bracken Dawson were the next three first-timers to complete the course. Matt Gleed finished strongly with a bit of a gap to U20 Ben Schofield, Will Hadley, Nick Davies and regulars Franklyn Young, Guy Hoskins, Rob Carter and Colin McManus. James Bailey, another first-timer completed the WADAC line-up. Great turnout, strong performances and hugely positive start to the season. Whole Lotta running still to come!
