Anna Bion wins the December Harestock Handicap

December is always an exciting event in the Harestock Handicap series as this is when it all gets decided....12 long months coming down to that final push for the line.
nThe weather was kind, John Mills and Louise Snook were both there completing their 12 out of 12 and both rumoured to be in with a chance of claiming the trophy. The tension on the startline was palpable as they tried to psyche each other with elaborate warmup routines and subtle banter....
nWith all the excitement it was perhaps inevitable that the handicapper might have been a bit distracted and was dollying up some generous handicaps...70% of the field would go on to beat their handicaps.
nOur winner was a welcome newcomer Anna Bion (9'34 gross) holding off James Day 2nd (9'36 gross) and ahead of Louise Snook 3rd (9'42 gross). Those with their eyes on the overall series result might be interested to know that John Mills finished further back and towards the rear of the field. A note of welcome too for Lynn McKeague making her first handicap appearance of the year.
nFastest on the night was Bracken (6'32) with James Day 2nd fastest (6'52) and our fastest lady was Anna Bion (7'27) with a very fine debut.
nThat's it for 2022, as regards the overall standings....the winner will be announced and the trophy awarded at the Xmas Social on 21st December....get your tickets via the events page of this website.
nThere are usually other awards then as well and we do know that John Mills and Louise Snook have completed their 12 out of 12 so many congratulations to them.
nIt all starts again for 2023 on the first Thursday of the month, the 5th of January. Be there at the bus-stop ready to race at 19.30 or join us for some warm-up threshold work round the Westman mini-loop from 19.00. Make a diary note now, if you don't do the first event you have no chance of making your own 12 out of 12 and it's all a wee bit of fun.
