Annie into 1500m final at UK champs

16 year old Annie Mann (coach James Mann) defied her age as the youngest competitor in the championships to come through her heat yesterday and seal a place in today's womens 1500m final at the UK indoor champs in Birmingham. As the race favourites Ellie Baker & Erin Wallace raised the pace in heat 2, Annie went with them and despite being overhauled by Emily Simpson, Annie kept going with some impressive finishing speed to dip for the line for 4th place and in doing so sealed the all important 3rd timed spot in the final by less than half a second. Annie's time of 4 mins 26.87 secs was a new indoor pb, moves Annie to 5th in the world on the current U18 indoor lists and is an absolute club record either indoors or outdoors.Annie will take her place in the womens field of 9 in today's final which can be watched live on BBC I-Player at 3.25pm. Annie has the slowest indoor time of all the competitors so we can't expect too much of the European U18 1500m champion today, particularly after her incredible feat yesterday but simply getting to the final is a huge achievment and as a club we will watch with a great sense of pride as Annie wears her WADAC vest on the start line.
