Sportshall success for the clubs young athletes
The 4th and last of this season's Hampshire Sportshall league matches took place at Places Leisure in Eastleigh on Sunday and resulted in great success for the clubs youngest athletes.In the oldest Sportshall age group the U15's, Bethany Mballa (coach Heather Sheffield) finished 3rd on the day for the girls and 4th overall in the league. Joes Stanton (coach Andy Fisher) finished 2nd on the day for the boys and 2nd overall in the league.In the U13 girls age group, the team of Megan Moat (coach Andy Fisher) 5th, Polly Newman (coach Andy Fisher) 9th, Amber Price (coach James Mann) 10th & Orlaith Moore (coach Dave Sherry) 11th won the team event on the day and secured the overall team title. Polly was 6th overall in the league and Anais Andrews (coach Andy Fisher) who didn't compete on the day was 2nd overall in the league. The U13 boys also won the overall team title with Rhys Wye (coach Dave Sherry) coming joint 1st on the day. Jackson Purdie (coach Andy Fisher) was 3rd on the day, William Griffiths (coach Dave Sherry) 5th on the day and Tom Price (coach Sam Bass-Cooper) 7th on the day as the boys won the match on the day to secure the team title. Rhys was 2nd overall in the league, Jackson 4th and William 5th.Now to the youngest age group the U11's. For the girls, Mia Gligorovski (U13 academy), Lottie Osman (U11 academy), Francesca Bertacchini (U13 academy) & Grace Cater (U11 academy) formed the A team on the day finishing 4th, 7th, 10th & 19th respectively to come 2nd on the day with the A team also finishing the league 2nd overall. The B team of Liane Marquis-Onijube (U11 academy), Fleur Robinson (Junior Athletics Group), Ayla Hermitage (U11 Academy) & Eva Raftery (U11 academy) were 6th on the day after finishes of 21st, 23rd, 24th & 27th respectively and the B team finished the league season as 6th overall. The C team of Elsa Ramsey (U11 academy), Ema Gligorovski (U11 academy), India Middleton (U11 axcademy) & Eloise Raftery (U11 academy) were 10th on the day after finishes of 33rd, 35th, 37th & 53rd respectively. Mia finished as 4th overall in the league, Francesca 6th, Lottie 10th, Grace 18th and Fleur 24th For the U11 boys, Declan Dew (U11 academy), Harry Elliott (U11 academy), Phoenix Vaughan (Junior Athletics Group), and Max Wadeson (U11 academy) formed the A team and were 2nd on the day with finishes of 3rd, 5th, 10th & 14th respectively. The A team won the league overall meaning WADAC picked up 3 of the 4 overall league team titles. The B team of Ben Lee (U11 academy), Lex Barker (U11 academy), Charlie Griffiths (U11 academy) & Alexander Wood (U11 academy) were 6th on the day after finishes of 15th, 25th, 28th & 35th respectively with the B team finishing the league as 4th overall. Thomas Brown (U11 academy) was 37th on the day. Declan finsihed as 2nd overall in the league, Harry 7th, Max 13th, Charlie 20th, Lex 22nd and Alexander 24th.Huge thanks goes to club stalwart Steve Torrance for organising the league this season on behalf of Hampshire Athletics as well as acting as Team Manager for the Hampshire Sportshall team and our own WADAC sportshall teams and to Paul Smith for his support in scoring the last match and organising the equipment for the league.
