Moira breaks British record

Well the season couldn't really have got off to better start as the clubs first Open Meeting produced no fewer than 12 performances worthy of the clubs all time top 3 record list with the star of the show being Moira West (coach Elias Mtshweni) who broke the British V70 200m record with a wind legal time of 33.05. The record is currently going through the ratifaction process but with everything in place that was required, we are hoping that this is a formality and the record is confirmed on the British Masters website. It's impossible to list all the performances of the clubs athletes from Sunday but those recording an all time top 3 performance definately deserve a mention.Starting with our youngest athletes, Declan Dew (U11 academy) had a good day in the quadkids competition, equalling the club age group record in the long jump, going 3rd on the clubs age group list in the 75m and breaking the clubs overall quad kids points record. Elsewhere for the men, Sam Clifton (coach Jeremy Clifton) broke the clubs hammer record by sending the 7.26kg hammer over the 50m line for the very first time for anyone in a WADAC vest. For the women, Elsie Brindle (coach Dave Sherry) went 3rd on the clubs all time U17W 100m list, Moira obviously broke the clubs 200m age group record given it was faster than anyone her age in the UK has ever run before. Lucia Bertacchini & Chloe Poore (both coached by Andy Fisher) went 2nd and 3rd respectively on the clubs age group 300m list, both recording english schools entry standards at the same time. Annie Mann (coach James Mann) went 2nd on the clubs all time 800m list and will surely have her eye on the club record she has already set for the 1500m. Gracie Osman (coach Andy Fisher) went 2nd on the clubs age group long jump list and Bethany Mballa (coach Heather Sheffield) did exactly the same for the shot putt. Finally Eva Raftery (U11 academy) went 3rd on the clubs age group list for the howler throw.A further top 3 performance has been set more recently as Will Atkins (coach Nick Anderson) made the trip to Watford on Wednesday for their open meeting series along with training partner Poppy Taylor (coach Nick Anderson). Both ran the 1500m with Will running a time of 4 mins 07.51 secs which was good enough for 2nd place on the clubs all time U17M list. With the season barely a few weeks old, the clubs track & field rankings make impressive reading with so many great performances already put down and it is going to be quite a season.See below for full rankings for both men & women and huge thanks to Richard White who has helped me with compiling data that makes putting these rankings together a much easier task.Wadac Track Field Mens Rankings 2023Wadac Track Field Womens Rankings 2023
