Mia achieves Commonwealth Youth games qualifying standard

Mia Judd (coach Tony Bateman) yesterday became the 3rd of the club’s world class young athletes to achieve a Commonwealth youth games qualifying standard at Biggish (Bedford International Games) which bizarely was held at Woodford with Bedford and then 2nd choice Chelmsford both unavailable.
nMia cleared the standard of 1.74m at her 3rd attempt after achieving a clean card of first time clearances up to then and with the meeting being a permit 2 classification then Mia joins Annie Mann & Alex Beck as U18 athletes who have achieved the standard. The jump ranks Mia as 19th in the European U18 rankings and is worth a formidable 965 world ranking points and is also a new absolute club record and takes Mia to the top of the U17W UK rankings.
nAt hurdles fest which ran alongside the jumps & throws meeting, Bella Wilson (coach Andy Fisher) also moved to the top of the UK U17W rankings winning the 300m hurdles in 43.45 secs. Despite a very testing wind which made for some difficult hurdling, Bella won the race comfortably.
nCharlie Elford-Pond (coach Eric Davison) completed the trio of U18's on display by throwing 56.74m for 2nd place in the U20 mens hammer competition.
