Annie breaks mile club record in Boston

In her first race since beginning her track & field scholarship at the University of Providence in Rhode Island in the States, Annie Mann (coach James Mann) bounced back to form at the John Thomas Terrier clasic in Boston on Friday night. Annie won her heat in a series of mile races in a very impressive 4 mins 45.52 secs breaking her own club record for the mile.

Annie has been joined in the States by Dad James and a couple of her old training partners Thomas Evans & Thomas Jacobs (both coached by James Mann) who also took part in heats of the mens mile races which took place yesterday. Thomas Evans went 2nd on the clubs all time mile list with a run of 4 mins 14.54 secs and Thomas Jacobs ran a time of 4 mins 22.82 secs in what would have been a memorable experience for all three of them.

Also in action stateside, Oliver Thatcher (coach Andy Fisher) completed the indoor heptathlon at the Bass Cragger multi-events invitational in Salem, Virginia on Friday & yesterday. Oliver put together 7 solid events which included a new indoor club record of 12.53m in the shot putt and finished with a final points total of 4886 points just 28 points behind his lifetime best.

Amy Wall (coach Andy Fisher) competed in the long jump in the South Alabama invitational in Birmingham Alabama today jumping a seasons best of 5.44m.
