It's been a good week for the walkers
Results from Vets League and Aldershot open
Monday evening was the final outing of the Hampshire Vets league at Aldershot, and very successful for the club. In the Men's races, Derek Smith narrowly missed out on victory in the V35 category by under half a second, posting a time of 13:18.03, while Nick Fleeman secured third place in the V50 category with a time of 13:16.70 and securing six points for the team. In the Women's races, Janet Littlewood and Jo Jefferies stepped up to the plate to secure enough points between them to help WADAC stay top of the league. Janet finished in an impressive third place in the V35 category posting a time of 15:23.23 to claim six points, while Jo managed fourth place in the V50 category with an equally impressive time of 14:46.09 and claiming five points in the process. As they are not regular racewalkers it was a tremendous effort by both of them on the night.
Nick and Derek went back to Aldershot on Thursday evening to take part in the Aldershot, Farnham & District open meeting, competing in a 1 mile race. Nick won the Men's category in a time of 10:24.53 with Derek finishing not far behind in second place with 10:28.24. They both acquired personal best times in the process as the distance is rarely featured in the Racewalking calendar.
