nI hesitate to mention specific athletes from yesterday, as those who turn up and excel in their regular events every match deserve as much mention as those who are new and try new things. But a few highlights are:

nPBs included: Harry Tosen (53.4 in 400m); Glen Foster (in Hampshire team for English Schools next month, 2m HJ); Ben Kimber (equalled 12.6 sec non wind assist 100m); Isla Allan (equalled 1.35 HJ PB); Josh Goble, also picked for English Schools for Triple Jump, (100m, 12.0 secs); Dan Thomas, usually 100m & 200m runner, (800m, 2 mins 16 seconds).Wins for WADAC came from: Poppy Clements (1500m); Natasha Miles (800m); Isla Allan (Steeplechase); Abigail Dennison (U20 400m); Kanya Mtshweni (100m Hurdles; Glen Foster (HJ & LJ "B"); Joshua Gobles (TJ & LJ); Ellise Mathieson (TJ); and Ed Hill-King (Shot).Many competed in additional events for the team, with nearly everyone doing the maximum number of allowable events. Thank you to all of you, including those who have added a throw or a jump to your day and those who volunteered for relays every match this season. Particular mention for new events competed in should go to: Glen Foster (200m and 4 x 400m); Josh Goble (100m, 4 x 100m & 4 x 400m); Ed (100m); and Ellise (Hammer).Joshua Woodhouse competed with the team at a YDL match for the first time, running a smart 3,000m, making huge improvements in Long Jump as he went and also joining the Men's 4 x 400m team.NEXT MATCH

nThere was an error in the original match schedule - The next YDL match is NOT next weekend - it is SUNDAY 24 July. This is just at the beginning of the school holidays. I am going on holiday from 9th to 19th July, therefore I will send out the invite to the next match this week and request any of you who can do, to respond by Thursday 7th July.

nWe will take everyone who is available. There will be a coach. Last year, it was a great day, even though we only had 15 people. So, please, if you are not already away on family holiday, consider joining us. We need to try to beat Southampton!
