Hampshire XC League Staunton Country Park Havant

The 4th match of the Hampshire Cross Country League was staged at the rearranged course of Staunton Country Park Havant. The course, which was a former venue of the National Cross Country Championships, was used instead of the originally scheduled Queen Elizabeth Country Park. The weather was very cold with intermittent light snow showers occurring most of the day.
nIn the Senior & Veteran Womens race Winchester & District Athletic Club (WADAC) runners were dominant winning the Senior team event with ease after 3 previous runners up positions. International Triathlete India Lee was a superb individual winner, half a minute clear of team mate Hayley Munn, who had one of her best runs over the country. Completing the victorious team was Melanie Wilkins in 4th place, her best individual place of the season. In 8th was Vicki Gill securing the the 1st Vet women position and along with Charlotte Hoskins 28th and Sue True 35th were comfortable Vet women team winners .WADAC have won all four team vents in this category this season. India Lee is in the leading position in Individual aggregate with one race remaining, Melanie Watkins is 5th and Simone Dailey 10th. Other WADAC finishers were Alison Fenwick 41st: Emma Carter 43rd : Harriet Spelman 56th : Joy Radford 70th : Madeline Vosser 75th ; Ella Morgan 80th.

nThe WADAC Under 17 women are unbeatable in the overall team position and again won this event with Grace Mann having easily her best run in 5th ahead of the consistent Poppy Clements 6th with Gabrielle Spelman 13th just getting ahead of Isla Allan 14th with Natasha Miles 19th. Clements is 4th overall in the U17W individual aggregate.

nThe Under 13 boys are improving as the season continues and finished 2nd team on the day and are 2nd on aggregate. Leading WADAC home on this occasion was James Medley 12th with Sam Roberts 17th and Thomas Briggs 19th being the scoring team. Arthur Chambers was 33rd and Patrick Hewson 43rd in the U13B race.

nHannah Foster had a really strong run to finish 12th in the Under 13 girls race leading home Grace McKee 15th AND Lilly Neate 18th for WADAC to finish 4th team, their best performance of the season. Also competing at U13G were Amelia Moore 22nd and Rose Chesterfield 33rd.

nThe leading WADAC runner in the Senior/Veteran Mens race was Humza Ahmed in 24th position, who was 2nd placed Under 20 man in the race. He was backed up by Timothy Smales 38th : Daniel Cunnington 43RD: Jonathan Prest 89th and Rob Carter 100th for the team to finish 6th on the day and are equal 5th overall. Prest, Carter and Steve Oliver 107th completed the Vet mens team in 7th position. The other WADAC finisher was Franklyn Young 115th. In the Under 20 individual aggregates James Heneghan is 3rd and Humza Ahmed 6th.

nKeir Sullivan continued his good season with a 7th place in the Under 17 mens race and had support from Matt Prest 13th and Joe Hoff 23rd leading to WADAC being 4th team. In the Under 15 boys race Toby Woods was the only WADAC runner but he had a fine run for 8th place. In the Under 15 girls race WADAC finishers were Isabella Beck 18th and Sophie Torrance 34th.

nThere is one more race of the League remaining which is at Reading in early March.
