WADAC athletes compete for Hampshire at Sportshall

Seven WADAC Under 11 athletes were within the selected youngsters for Hampshire that competed at the South East Under 11 Regional final at Burgess Hill Sussex. For the Girls- Emma Shedden : Beth Thorpe : Jasmine Jones : Grace Cahill. For the boys- Billy Brackley ; Euan Holm : Sam Mballa. Their team-mates were from other Hampshire clubs, New Forest Jnrs, Portsmouth Southampton, Aldershot, Andover & Havant.They competed against teams from Kent ,Berkshire, Bucks, Surrey , Oxfordshire, Sussex . The competition standard was very high but all our athletes competed with great enthusiasm and effort.On the Track the athletes compete at a series of person relays such as Obstacle, Over and Under, Hurdles, Grand Prix, 4X1 Lap. They also run 2 person relays such 1+1: 2+2 6 Lap Paarlauf. Billy along with Ollie Miell from NFJ ran an outstanding 6 lap Paarlauf to claim Hampshire's only victory on the Track, Billy also competed in the Standing Triple Jump and Hi-Stepper in the field. Sam competed well at the Standing Long Jump plus a couple of relays including 4x1 Lap. Euan did the Vertical Jump and also the 4x1 Lap. Beth & Emma ran the 1+1 race with Beth competing at the Standing Long Jump/ 7 4x1 Lap Relay and Emma the Standing Triple Jump & Hi Stepper plus relay. Grace threw a PB of 7 metres in the Chest Push for 6th individual place overall. Grace also competed at the Balance Test & Grand Prix Relay. Jasmine did the Hi Stepper , Over & Under Relay & 4x1 Lap Relay. All the athletes had a great time at a very enjoyable event which is very well run and expertly compered. The next Regional even is on 4th March for Under 13/Under 15 age groups which several WADAC athletes selected.
