WADAC U13s impress in Hants League XC finale
With no Under11 races at the rescheduled Reading event, the Under 13s were the first runners of the day. There were eleven girls wearing the black and gold of Winchester, as they looked for another solid team performance to consolidate recent good results. The ever-improving Hannah F worked her way impressively through the field to finish 8th, her first top-ten finish at this level. The team scorers were completed by the consistent Grace M (14th) and, stepping up from U11s for the first time, another runner with a strong season of improvement, Jasmine J (22nd). This gave the girls fifth team place on the day. Just behind in 23rd was another U11, Lara B, followed by Lily N (25th) and Ellie M (27th), both of whom have run well throughout the cross-country season. There were good runs too from Clemmie R, Jemima B, Aisling H, Grace T and Evie W. Unfortunately the U13 girls didn't record a final team score for the series, having had only two runners at the second race in Bournemouth. Recent results however, would have seen them finish fourth or fifth team for the series, so the target next season will be for a podium place.Next came our U13 boys, with eight WADAC runners on the day. Here again two of our runners broke into the top ten for the first time at Hampshire League, so congratulations to both James M (8th) and Harry H (10th) on their ongoing improvement. The third scorer for the team, stepping up impressively from U11s, was Michael S (18th). This secured not only second placed team on the day, but also second placed team for the series, a very good achievement in our first season of the new junior endurance-training group. The next WADAC finishers were the very consistent Thomas B (33rd), then another U11, Charlie C (35th) running well at this level, the very dependable Ben S (47th) and relative newcomer Arthur C (48th) and continuing recent good form.So a very pleasing end to the season, and some targets to aim for when we start all over again in October. Well Done to all our runners this season.
