Harestock Handicap - May 2017

We had 19 runners in the May Handicap including Liz Marshall making her first appearance of the year and showing her improvement since last year to beat the handicapper and the rest of the field. In a thrilling blanket finish behind her Carrie Oliver just held off Joe Chick and the chasing pack. It was a strange night for the handicapper with lots of ill advised post-marathon legs on display and a number of runners "promising" to take it easy.....some adjustments have had to be made. Anyway despite the shenaghans 8 runners managed to meet or beat their handicaps and 12 runners crossed the line in the fabled 20sec sweetspot.
nFastest on the night was James Moore with 6'07 with Joe Chick and Lloyd Dickson both recording 6'15 just behind him. We had PB's for Matt Grote 6'16 stays at No15 on the honours board and for Andy Gannaway whose 6'27 moves him up to No.26.
nRob Bryan still leads the way in the overall standings from Andy Gannaway and Lloyd Dickson but it is all pretty close and we have had 5 different race winners so far this year.....anyone can get into the mix.
nWith that in mind advance notice that the June handicap will be held on the first Thursday of the month (ie 1st June) and will be something of a special event....do put it into your plans and into your diary.
