nOur ladies team are now 2nd, with Stubbington only 1 point behind in 3rd position and Lordshill 1st. Men are now joint 8th. So we really need as many runners as possible please, particularly fast ladies if we are to hold our position in the league.
nPlease find below race info received from this week's race organisers. Lift shares can be organised, please let me know if you need one.
nLooking forward to seeing you there. Emma
nHalterworth Harriers and Solent Running Sisters are hosting the 5th RR10 of the 2017 series. The event will take place on Wednesday 7th June at Fleming Park, Eastleigh, SO50 9NL. The race will start promptly at 7.30pm.The race meeting point, start and finish lines will be close to the paddling pool at the back end of Fleming Park, near to Pavilion in the Park. Here is a link to the course route. It is a 4.5 mile route which includes two laps of the old golf course. https://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_4547363.html ParkingThere is limited parking in the overflow car park for Fleming Park Leisure Centre (the old council offices), situated at the bottom of Kornwestheim Way. Otherwise there is quite a lot of on street parking nearby. Please park considerately. Do not park in the main Leisure Centre car park or in the Pavilion in the Park car park. SafetyThe course is mostly on grassy track which, although quite even, does have some rabbit holes and deep divots. There is also debris from nearby trees on some sections. There are low over hanging branches and tree roots which will be highlighted with tape or by marshals. At the top end of the course, a short, steep, downward tarmac slope with loose gravel and metal motor cycle barriers is particularly hazardous and needs negotiated with caution. The park is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and young people so please be mindful of this whilst running. Do not run on the gravel cycleway, unless directed to do so by the marshals. In order to squeeze enough miles into a small area, the course has a lot of tight turns and a busy junction where, after the second loop, the route divides, please pay attention to the route markings and marshal instructions. ToiletsThere are a few toilets available on the outside of the Blackbird cafe, part of the Pavilion in the Park building.
