Harestock Handicap Results - June 2019

With apologies for the late race report we congratulate Steve Goodwin on becoming our 6th different winner of the Harestock Handicap this year. There were 15 runners contesting the June handicap including one event newbie, Lucy Chilcott, and Rob Porter making his "first of the year" appearance.
nFrom the outset it was apparent that the handicapper was in for a tough time as there were a few strange numbers being offered out - apologies, it's an inexact science!
n9 athletes managed to meet or beat their handicap with 7 in the sweet spot of the blanket finish. Steve Goodwin was our event winner ahead of Adrian Field and Lucy Chilcott.
nOn a relatively slow night our fastest was Dave Gaskell with 6'51 with Adrian Haughton 2nd fastest at 7'18. Performance of the night was however Sarah Aldridge continuing her recent form to record a 6 year PB at the Handicap, congratulations to her.

nWe are now half-way through the season and so far 43 different runners have had a go, three athletes - Mikaela Price, Paul Oxley and Dave Gaskell - have contested every event so far and we have had 6 different race winners.
nAs regards the overall standings Dave Gaskell still tops the charts but now only ahead of Lynn McKeague on countback. Paul Oxley, Steve Goodwin and Mikaela Price are all packing closely behind. The differences are however small and as the scoring system allows many discards much can change - it is really still up for grabs. One thing for sure though is that you have to be in it to win it - everyone is welcome to come and give it a go. nThe July 2019 Handicap will be, as ever, on the first Thursday of the month...the 4th July 2019. As it's a bit of a special date we'd encourage you to wear something appropriately American.....why not dig out your stars and stripes, maybe your favourite old Boston Marathon t-shirt or your biggest and boldest Stetson hat?
nMeet at the track 18.45 for 19.00.
nAll welcome we can make up suitable handicaps for newbies on the night....it's also a bit of a special night in that we have a new event leaders....Steve is away so Mikaela Price and Adrian Field are going to tag-team and run the event.
