RR10 Race 7, Wednesday 19th June, 7.30pm at Manor Farm Country Park

RR10 Race 7, Wednesday 19th June, 7.30pm at Manor Farm Country Park.
nHope to see you there.
n
nPlease find information from the organisers below:
n
nDear All,
n
nPlease forward the following information to your members:
n
nHedge End Running Club has the pleasure of hosting Race #7 of the 2019 RR10 series. This will take
n
nplace on Wednesday19 th of June at Manor Farm Country Park, which is on the outskirts of Hedge
n
nEnd, just off Junction 8 of the M27. The nearest postcode is SO31 1BH.
n
nThe drop out clubs are New Forest Runners and also Romsey.
n
nRoute: This year we have had to make some changes to the new route we used last year as some of
n
nthe paths have been removed. As well as giving you an improved safer route, we have been able to
n
nincrease the distance as well as avoid the road crossing, a new gate, and also a very rutted part of
n
nthe old route!!! The route is 4.7 miles long with all the usual mix of hills and rough ground. New Route
n
nMap attached.
n
nSafety:
n
nThe course is mainly dry at the moment, although one section in the woods is quite muddy and trail
n
nshoes are recommended. Spikes are not suitable. The dry weather in the Spring has exposed more
n
ntree roots than normal, which we will try and mark wherever possible. There are narrow sections
n
nthrough the woods and a very uneven section along a bridleway where extra care should be taken.
n
nParking:
n
nAs ever, we expect parking to be tight, so please car share as much as possible. There will be
n
nno parking charges for the evening, so there is no need to buy a parking ticket. Please do not park on
n
nthe access road outside the Country Park entrance. We plan to use the field at the top for parking
n
nthen use the other car parks as needed. This will hopefully help avoid congestion with cars attempting
n
nto leave the park being blocked by runners arriving. Please follow the instructions of the Car Park
n
nmarshals and be aware of traffic while walking along the road to the start area.
n
nGeneral Notes:
n
n The start is 19:30 prompt. Please allow time to arrive, park and get to the start.
n
n We do not have exclusive access to the Country Park, which is popular with dog walkers,
n
ncyclists, and other users, so please be considerate to the local residents. If the weather is
n
nfine, there may also be families picnicking in the Country Park.
n
n We have been promised that the Ladies and Gents toilets in Barnfield will be left unlocked for
n
nthe race.
n
n The Start and Finish will be in Barnfield
n
n The route is a mixture of grass, gravel paths, trails and bridleways, with muddy sections
n
nthrough fields and copses and along the riverbank. Tree roots, ruts, large stones, low
n
nbranches, posts, steps, bridges and a cheeky incline towards the end are some of our
n
ninteresting features. These will be indicated by marshals where possible.
n
n If you have a car, please leave the Country Park by 9pm, the entrance gate for vehicles is locked at 9.15pm • There will be water available at the end of the race however, an effort to reduce our environmental impact, it has been decided not to provide cups so please bring your drink or reusable cup. Please also take any odds and ends plus litter home with yourself to keep the park clean. We look forward to seeing you all next week. Rob & Sheryl
