Harestock Handicap Results - July 2019
On a muggy 4th of July we were delighted to welcome Hannah Field who flew in from Texas specially to make her Harestock Handicap debut on the same night as her Dad made his debut as the handicapper. Many thanks to Adrian and Mikaela Price for stepping-in. In the lucky dip of "who's away on holiday" along with Hannah there were 5 other runners making their "first of the year" appearances in the field of 14 runners.
nNeil Brown passed Louise Snook in the final yards to maintain the handicapper's streak and become our 7th different winner in the 7 months of the Harestock Handicap this year. Finishing strongly Louise did however see-off the fast finishing Jono Brown (no relation) to keep 2nd place and leave Jono in third. Behind that very tight finish for the podium places the field was pretty strung out so the "blanket finish" was right at the front this month.
nJono Brown was our fastest on the night - his 6'32 is a big improvement on his PB and sees him leap up the honours board to No.37. Neil Brown also chalked up a new PB to be our 2nd fastest in 6'37 and come onto the board at No.45. Rob Weekes was also sub-7 but his 6'58 is a bit off his best times.
nDave Gaskell was absent so our list of ever-presents this year is down to 2 - Mikaela Price and Paul Oxley are still in the running for our coveted "12 out of 12" medals. As regards the overall standings it's still tight at the top but now Paul Oxley leads from Steve Goodwin with Dave Gaskell, Mikaela Price and Lynn McKeague close behind.
nThe Aug 2019 Handicap will be, as ever, on the first Thursday of the month...the 1st of August 2019. Meet at the track 18.45 for 19.00.
nAll welcome we can make up suitable handicaps for newbies on the night.
