Harestock Handicap Results - October 2019

We had 18 runners out to contest the October Handicap including Matt Taylor, surprisingly a newbie at this event plus Tom Watson making his first appearance of the year. Watto thus maintains his proud record of having made at least one appearance in every year since the event's inception...not many people can claim that on their cv!On the first of the truly dark nights we were entertained by some wet bits and a number of other on-pavement obstructions for most the racing line was the long way round and so mostly on road. Despite all this Louise Claxton, in her 2nd race of the year, stormed round to become our first two-time winner of 2019 so making this little game look easy. Andy Costello was chasing hard to bag 2nd place and a new PB whilst Mikaela Price was back on form to take third. Not a night for fast (or predictable) running and the field was spread with 7 in the sweetspot and only 6 runners succeeding in meeting or beating their handicaps.Fastest on the night was again Dave Gaskell but 6'36 is some way off his best, Rob Costello ran well to again improve his PB and his new mark of 6'49 moves him up to No.64 on the honours board. Steve Oliver was third fastest with 6'59, similarly a tad off his best. Sarah Shedden with 7'02 was fastest lady.Mikaela Price was there again.....10 out of 10 so far!As regards the overall standings it's Mikaela again now shading ahead of Dave Gaskell on countback with Adrian Field and Steve Goodwin still in close attendance.
nThe November 2019 Handicap will be, as ever, on the first Thursday of the month...the 7th November - Steve can't be there so Rob Bryan will be your handicapper.NB it will be dark before we start so please Hi-Viz clothing and some lights.Meet at the track 18.45 for 19.00.
