Ewan Simmonds
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that Ewan Simmonds passed away on Friday.
nEwan gave so much time and support to WADAC and its athletes over the years. As many of us do, Ewan started off at the club as a parent helper and then started coaching at several locations before the track in Winchester was built.
nHe brought a lot of his army training knowledge to his coaching. His main focus became throws coaching and several athletes he coached were selected for English Schools and achieved a top 10 UK ranking.
nEwan was also a strong supporter of Sportshall, coaching every Tuesday during the winter months for many, many years, always extremely organised with personal best statistics on each athlete readily available for each session.
nHe was also a committee member for some years and became a very experienced field official.
nOver the years, he gave up an enormous amount of time as a field official, supporting the juniors, seniors and vets in their league matches. He was dedicated, principled and always encouraged athletes and fellow officials and coaches.
nHe will be greatly missed by so many at the club.
nIf you wish to include a message in the card I will send to his wife and family please send it to me at chair@wadac.org.uk before Thursday.
