Club records broken all over the South
There doesn't seem to be a weekend go by when another club record is broken and last weekend was no different as the club's athletes were in action all over the South of England.
nA number of the club's endurance athletes were in action In Aldershot on Saturday along with our walking community. Walking has a strong tradition in athletics and the club has its own walking group led by Clare Mitchell. In the 3000m walk, U17 woman Natasha Mitchell (walks coach Clare Mitchell) broke the club's age group record with a time of 16 mins 34.4 secs and older sister Natasha Mitchell (walks coach Clare Mitchell) went 2nd in the club's all time U20 age group list with a time of 17 mins 46 secs. Father David Mitchell (walks coach Clare Mitchell) broke the V45 age group club record with a time of 18 mins 25.4 secs. Also in Aldershot, Alison Fenwick (coach Dave Vosser) returned to track action running the 400m in 80.9 secs and Ben Ringrose-Voase (coach Dave Vosser) went straight to the top of the mens 800m rankings with a season's best time of 2 mins 3.2 secs less than a couple of secs off his pb. U15 boy Ruben Price (coach Nick Anderson) further improved his pb with an impressive time of 2 mins 15.6 secs and Ben Healey (coached out of club) ran his first 1500m of the season recording a time of 4 mins14.3 secs. Finally in Aldershot Jack Wergan (coach Dave Vosser) ran his first ever 5000m in 16 mins 25.9 secs.
nAlso on Saturday in Kingston, U15 girl Erin McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) continued her fine start to the season with a discus throw of 29.91m to smash her own age group club record and consolidate her place at no 2 in the UK age group rankings.
nFinally on Saturday in Yeovil, U20 man Harry Crosby (coach Andy Fisher) leapt out to a windy 6.93m to win the long jump by a metre from his nearest competitor.
nThis wasn't the last of the record breaking weekend as U15 girl Arabella Wilson (coach Andy Fisher) jumped 5.33m in the long jump in Swindon on Sunday to break Emma Buckett's age group club record that has stood for over 15 years. Bella completed her day with a run of 12.10 secs in the 75m hurdles and 42.24secs in the 300m. Also in Swindon U17 woman Grace Colmer (coach Andy Fisher) went 3rd on the club's all time age group list by achieving a distance of 10.97m the 3rd of the club's female multi-eventers to go over 10m with the 3kg shot this season.
