Pete Spelman
It is with great sadness that we must advise that Pete Spelman, our successful club Chairman between 2013 and 2017 has passed away peacefully, after a protracted illness that was bravely endured.
nPete is left behind by his wife, Michele and two daughters Gabi and Harriet both of whom have remained WADAC members despite being away, one at university while the other is working. Both return to train with the club whenever time permits. Michele herself has regularly helped out at club functions.
nPete is remembered as a great athlete, with very strong performances from 800m through to the marathon, as well as being a coach of middle-distance and cross-country groups and also coaching one of our junior endurance groups – quite a Man!
nPete was a terrifically staunch supporter of our club and will be sorely missed. He was not only an official who was full of vision for the future of our club, but he was also a very engaging person who was always interested in how you were getting on. Put simply a “nice guy” and a friend to so many.
nOne member recalled the second year when the club participated in the Welsh Castles relay. Not only did Pete run for the club, but he followed the team minibus across Wales on his motorbike, supporting his club colleagues all along the route.
nOur hearts, our sincere thoughts and our prayers go out to Pete’s family and friends at this difficult time.
