U11s Wessex League match & Ami’s 75m club record

On Sunday 27th June, the second league match took place at Aldershot and once again the U11 team performed superbly well.

n
nThe results and league table have now both been updated on the Wessex Athletics league website and it is wonderful reading.
n
n
n
nIt was incredible to see the amazing team spirit within the squad (both athletes and parent helpers - it was a day of ice packs at the ready!!) and the athletes looked like they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This was particularly highlighted when Camilla injured herself in the 75m race and it was just terrific that the team rallied around her to make sure that all her catering needs were tendered for!!!
n
n
n
nOnto the performance, once again the athletes were superb, both the boys (893 points) and girls (841 points) teams coming first. After 2 matches, WADAC have a massive lead of 300 points which is incredible.
n
n
n
nI was also delighted to see that there were a number of athletes competing for the first time in a league match plus 25% of the team were Year 4 athletes, gaining valuable league match experience.
n
n
n
nThe athletes all performed amazingly well and I am extremely proud to make a shout out to the following athletes where 5 u11 club records were broken/ equalled as below:
n
n
n
n1 - Alexa Divers - u11s girls 75m - 11:20, equal 2nd (WL 27/6);
n
n2 - Ava Cassia - u11s girl 600m - 1 min 56 secs, equal 1st;
n

n
nOn Friday 25th June, a sprints meeting took place at Winchester and it was fantastic to see so many U11s competing in the 75m where the invite was only sent a few days before the event with lots of PBs ran. Congratulations to all the athletes that competed. Massive congratulations to Amalie Calliste, U11s girl, who ran an extremely speedy 10:85 seconds and broke the WADAC record that dates back to 2016.
n
n
n
nOnce again U11 athletes continue to perform fantastically well and I wish the team continued success with the next match taking place at our home track on Sunday 11th July - good luck team!
