U17 records updated

The U17 track & field records have now been updated for the 2021 season. As with the other age groups some have been broken by those in younger age groups but today we focus on those who were in the U17 age group this year.
n
nThe women outshone the men this year with no fewer than 13 all time top 3 performances. Rose Chesterfield (coach Nick Anderson) had a fine season on the track and broke a 15 year old club record by her run of 10 mins 13 secs in the 3000m at the English schools champs in Manchester in July. Natasha Mitchell (walks coach Clare Mitchell) broke the 3000m walk record also at the English schools champs which for walks was held in Bedford in September. Natasha (vault coach Elias Mtshweni) also went 2nd on the clubs pole vault list.
n
nThe Gordon twins (both coached by Martin McBriar) had a fantastic season in the throws with Jasmine going 2nd on the clubs javelin list by throwing 34.80m (lots more to come there methinks) and breaking the clubs hammer record with a near 40m throw at the last chance at the clubs final open meeting of the season. Sister Amelia also got in on the action in the all time top 3 lists by achieving a 30m discus throw at the same end of season event.
n
nMillie Cutts (coach Andy Fisher) went 3rd on the triple jump list and sprint hurdler Poppy Shroff (coach Andy Fisher) went 3rd on both sprint hurdles and 100m lists and multi-eventer Grace Colmer (coach Andy Fisher) achieved no fewer than 4 top 3 performances. Grace went 2nd on the all time list in LJ and 3rd in shot and the sprint hurdles. Best of all Grace broke the clubs heptathlon record with 4549 points overtaking both Anna Newton & Emma Buckett who were fine multi-eventers for the club 15 years or so ago. This performance is also good enough for the UK top 10.
n
nTwo U17 men dominated performances for the club at this age group with middle distance star Harry Wilson (coach Nick Anderson) having a breakthrough season. Harry ran 1min 58 secs and bits to smash the clubs age group 800m record in Watford in August having ran 4mins 5 secs and bits to do the same to the clubs 1500m record just a week earlier in Aldershot. For good measure Harry went 2nd on the clubs 3000m lists with his run at the first Winchester open meeting in April.
n
nCharlie Elford Pond (coach Jeremy Clifton) also had a standout season and remains an U17 for next year also. Charlie exceeded 50m for the hammer on no fewer than 8 occasions culminating in a throw of 53.12m in September which currently places him 2nd on the clubs all time list but he will no doubt be after the record next year. Charlie also places 2nd on the clubs shot putt lists after his performance at the County champs in August.
n
nTrack & field records for the 3 last remaining age groups (U15, U13 & U11) will be updated next week.
