Club records update
The 2021 track & field season has been nothing short of sensational for the club. With the season now over it is time to reflect on some of the performances that demonstrate this, by updating the club records and reviewing the record breaking achievements within each age group.
nFor the men, we have seen 25 top 3 all time age group performances, 18 new age group club records and 2 new overall club records across any age group. The women have produced 36 top 3 all time age group performances, 28 new age group club records and 4 overall club records across any age group.
n The records can be viewed through the link below and we begin the review today with the Masters age group.

nThe Masters ladies have seen 4 women break 9 age group club records this year. Shelley Parr and son Daniel have been tremendous introductions into the throws group and Shelley has broken the V45 records in shot, hammer and, of course, discus with her discus throw of 42.58m also standing as an overall club record in any age group. Heather Sheffield has broken the V40 records in shot & discus whilst evergreen Sue Hume has added V65 records in discus, javelin & hammer to those she holds in the younger age groups. Finally, Erin Willmers has had a tremendous season on the track, winning all 4 of her races in the SAL including her record breaking V35 1500m run at Southampton in September.
nThe Masters men have seen 5 men break 6 age group records. Derek Smith has added the V65 2000m & 3000m walk records to those he holds in the younger age groups. Dave Roberts broke the V50 triple jump record at the British Masters champs in Derby in August. Tim Smales broke the V40 1500m record with a pillar to post victory in perfect conditions at the last of our open meetings, just last week. Finally, two club legends continue to run well into their 60's; Dave Vosser broke the club's V60 5,000m record at our home SAL match in August and Steve Oliver broke the club's V60 10,000m record in Wimbledon a few weeks ago.
nCongratulations to all those record breaking athletes. Tomorrow I review the senior club records which represent the best performances across any group with no fewer than 6 of these broken this year.
