WADAC junior teams secure top-ten finishes at National Championships

After some 21 months without cross-country racing, WADAC juniors turned out in force at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield, for the National Cross-Country Relay Championships. Fielding twelve teams, on a dry, bright day in the North Midlands, Winchester's finest once again demonstrated that they can compete with any club in the country, securing two top-ten and three further top-twenty team finishes.Pride of place on the day goes to our U13s, with both boys' A (Ethan Skipwith, Seth Noott, Casper Wilson) and girls' A (Poppy Taylor, Kate Atkinson, Grace Baker) teams finishing 8th, and the boys' B (Ollie Corrie, Joe Hasan, Tom Savill) team finishing 17th. U15 boys A (James Lewis, Will Atkins, Ieuan Thomas) finished just outside the top-ten, and the U17 girls (Rose Chesterfield, Amelia Moore, Ellie McErlean) were 16th. It was particularly good to see these three together in a team again, having competed together for WADAC throughout all the age groups from U13s onwards. It was also a great opportunity for some of the younger runners in each age-group to experience the National Relays for the first time, and they will no doubt be looking forward to 2022 when they'll be in the top half of their two-year band and ready to challenge for honours.A big thank you to all the parents who got their athletes 180 miles up the road in good time and made sure everyone was where they needed to be at the right moments at what is a very busy event.
