More medals for Winchester seniors at XC county championships
Like another rainy night in Soho, conditions did not deter another large turnout from the senior men, continuing the fine form shown in the first two league fixtures. Will Boutwood was first home for WADAC, picking up an excellent third-placed bronze in a strong field. Phil Berntsen, returning from injury finished in 11th and the ever-reliable Calum Upton in 13th. The Winchester men's team was completed by Adrian Fautly, Dan Cunnington and the evergreen Wayne Bevan to claim a well-deserved third place. Wayne also picked up a silver in the V40 category to continue his run of success this season.
nWith George Belfield, Jon Vintner and Andy Winterbottom also finishing in the top 50, it really was a strong performance. Winchester's veteran men produced the final medal performance of the day, picking up bronze with Wayne Bevan (again), Andy Parkinson, David Comb and Rob Carter making up the team. This was despite losing Rich Bidgood and Nick Wood to injury during the race. With Guy Hoskins, Steve Oliver, Stephen Lowy and Colin McManus also running strongly it was a good day all around made all the better with the support out on the course from family, coaches and ladies who stayed on after their race.
