Stuart in sparkling form ahead of UK champs
Stuart McCallum (self coached) goes from strength to strength and put in a fabulous performance at the Ayo Falola dream mile event at Lee Valley last Wednesday.
nStuart finished 2nd in a time of 4 mins 01.85 secs in the A race in the event named in honour of sprinter and fantastic middle distance coach Ayo, who died in 2015, and coached Marilyn Okoro & Shelayna Oskan-Clarke amongst many others.
nThis serves as an ideal warm up for Stuart's appearance at the UK indoor champs in the 3000m on Saturday afternoon at 3.50pm. The race can be watched live on BBC online or through the red button.
nTo put his recent improvement in context, this ranks Stuart 25th in Europe at the indoor mile and gives him his first world ranking score in excess of 1100 points, the benchmark of a top class performance.
nThe field for Saturday afternoon's race can be seen through the link below and I, for one, can't wait to see an athlete in a WADAC vest appearing at the UK senior champs; it has been far too long.
