William "Bill" Davies

Bill was a life member of the club. He is remembered as an extremely likeable gentleman, full of Welsh charisma. He joined WADAC as an accomplished and established Masters athlete and retained his 2nd claim with Welsh Masters throughout his running career. He was training with the club and racing parkruns and the Lakeside 5k series well into 2015 when he was 85. He was a true athlete, holding to this day a total of 36 club records from 400m to half marathon. His preferred distance was 10k but he particularly enjoyed 800’s and 1500’s on the track. His CV is full of Masters medals and top rankings at Welsh, BMAF, European and World Masters level.
nHis Power of Ten record is equally impressive: holding the All-Time UK rankings V80 for 1500m (1st), 10,000m (4th), 800m (6th), 3000i (8th), 10 miles road (4th).
nHis funeral will be held at Wessex Vale Crematorium, Bubb Lane, Hedge End, at 3.15pm on Monday 7thMarch. His family have said that any of his old running mates would be most welcome.
