Results from Longbeech CC6

Early on Sunday morning (13th Feb) the sixth CC6 race took place at Longbeech campsite. Despite the threatening rain clouds an excellent turn out propelled Winchester to third in the mens and women placings on the day, with 19 competitors. The course was the familiar gravel tracks of Kings Garn Inclosure with sharp slog up the hill to the finish. Due to Forestry Commission restrictions the parking and cake stand (a fixture for all CC6 races now) was 1.5 mile from the start /finish, a handy incentive to speed that recovery run after the race. Ellie Swire led in the women with seasons best of 2nd, following by CC6 debutante Jade Edwards and stalwart Caroline Carr completing the team in 19th, mention also to Kirsty Rowland 21st and Joy Radford 38th (Joy also happens to be second in her age category).
nArchie Ives first of the season also lead in the men in 9th, Wayne Bevan 11th, ever present Will Harding 18th closely followed by Pete Sansome 19th completing the mens team. 10 other athletes realised our club's strength in depth; Harry Stow 26th, Jack Rowland 30th, a special outing by Rob Carter 36th, then a trio lead by Steve Oliver 55th (and leading man in his age category), Stephen Lowy 56th and Paul Horler 57th, a recovering Charles Carr 74th, Steve Cluett 88th a welcome sighting of Dave Vosser 90th and Colin McManus 94th.As regards the overall standings in the race for our new CC6 trophy it's pretty much as you were with Will Harding out in front and leading male whilst Emma Carter is our leading female. The current standings are here.
nThe next race we are hosting, so we can't run, but we do need to Marshall the race and bake the cakes. Its on Sunday 6th March, volunteer Marshalls & bakers are needed, race briefing is at 8.30am on Whiteshute Ridge above Badger Farm Sainsburys. More details on our usual social media channels and this website to follow but importantly turning up and volunteering as a marshall does score points for the CC6 trophy.
