WADAC Junior Endurance athletes represent their schools and race for Hampshire
It was a bright, breezy day on Saturday 19 March for the English Schools Cross Country Championships, held at Hop Farm, Kent.
nThe first WADAC athlete to compete was Ruben Price in the Junior Boys race, coming 9th and earning his place in the England team next weekend. Ruben was 2nd in the Hampshire Schools Junior Boys team and helped the county secure first place.
nThe second race featuring WADAC athletes was the Junior Girls. Kate Atkinson came 48th out of a field of 340, Kate was third in the Hampshire Schools Junior Girls team who earned second place team.
nNext up was the Intermediate Boys race. WADAC athletes made up 3 out of the 6 to score for Hampshire Schools and enabled the team to finish in third place. Harry Wilson (26th), James Lewis (65th) and Will Atkins (68th) scored well out of a field of 325.
nFinally Lily Neate and Amelia Moore finished 1st and 2nd in the Hampshire Schools Senior Girls team coming 28th and 72nd respectively out of 278 runners over a 4.4km course.
nThe National Independent Schools Association Cross Country Championships were held on the same day at Worksop College. A great result for WADAC athlete Charlie Cox coming 5th in the Yr 10/11 Boys race and to Alexandra Dickenson who finished 15th in the Yr 8/9 Girls race.
