Winchester win the second Wessex league match

The day was a little cooler on Sunday, which saw our first Wessex home match of the season. In action were the U11s (school years 4 and 5) and our older juniors (u13s through to u17s).
nIn the main match, it was very close between three teams and we just managed to squeeze ahead of New Forest on the day due to some last minute changes and additions to the team, with those athletes helping secure the team the extra 20 points to win the match. Thank you to those individuals who know who they are!!
nSo, Winchester won the main match on 526.5 points followed by New Forest (506) and Bournemouth (425.5).
nThe Quadkids (u11s) did an amazing job too winning their match with 1711 points compared to second place Bournemouth on 1673. Hallie Eldridge broke her own club record in the vortex with a throw of 33.82m and achieved a total of 234 points which is second all time club’s girl individual points score. Fellow team mate Mia Gligorovski achieved a total of 232 point to go into 3rd place on the club’s all time records for individual girls score - 3 club records in one meeting, amazing performance girls.
nIt is not possible to mention everyone who took part as we had over 100 athletes competing, but there were some incredible performances with many PBs beaten. Isou Harfield (u13s) ran an incredible 1500m clocking in at 4.47min to secure a top 16 position in the country for this age group in this event. Charlie Elford Pond's (u17s) throw of 40.58m in the discus took him to 14th in the national rankings. Lily Flute's (u13s) run in the 200m 27.40s was good enough to give her a national ranking of 9th. Darcey Thorne-Henderson propelled into 3rd in the country with a discus throw of 25.43m. Abi McBriar (u15s) went to 24th in the national rankings with a throw of 31m in the javelin. Mia Judd (u17s) moved to 10th in the national rankings with a jump of 1.63m in the high jump. It just goes to show that home fixtures are a good place to PB and move up the rankings.
nThank you to all the officials, helpers and team managers on the day.
