Vets ladies win match 4 of Hampshire vets league
The 4th and final match of the Hampshire vets league took place in Aldershot on Monday and as with match 3 resulted in a win for our ladies team. There were some record breaking performances with Lucy Elliott (coach David Vosser) running an incredible 2.28.39 seconds to smash the clubs V55 record and this is the fastest time Lucy has recorded over the distance since 2012 showing what a rich vein of form she is in taking her 2nd in the UK age group rankings. Lucy also broke her own V55 3000m club record winning in a time of 10 mins 17.05 secs which tops the UK age group rankings. Sue Van Vuuren (self coached) broke her own V50 shot putt record with a putt of 9.27m with the 3kg shot which puts Sue in the top 10 of the UK age group rankings. Sian Lewis, Kathryn Miles, Sue True, Moira West, Fiona Bolton, Cathy Kinnear, Shelley Parr, Janet Littlewood, Sarah Gurney, Charlotte Hoskins and Jane Gandee made up the rest of the team who lost out on the overall league title by an agonising 12 points from Southampton.The men were 3rd on the day and finished 3rd in the overall league and were represented in Aldershot by Owen Watts, Tim Smales, Ian Parker, Andy Gannaway, Matt Gleed, John Mills, Rick Munro, Steve Oliver, Paul Horler, Richard Bidgood, Franklyn Young, Derek Smith, Andrew Mant and Mike Marchant.
