Lily smashes club record to take gold

The glorious summer of championship success continued for the clubs young athletes as they returned from the Southern Area age group (U13,U15,U17) champs in Chelmsford this weekend with 2 golds, 5 silvers and a bronze medal as well as a number of other top 8 performances.Lily Flute (coach Andy Fisher) finished her season in style taking gold in the U13G sprint hurdles with a scorching time of 11.44 secs which smashes the club age group record and takes her 4th in the UK age group rankings. Lily was also 5th in the LJ final and made the final of the 200m but didn't take up her place after suffering a little in a heat in what was a burning hot weekend. Arabella Wilson (coach Andy Fisher) was the clubs other South of England champion, winning the U17W 200m in a new pb of 24.78 secs which takes her 2nd on the clubs all time list and places her in the UK age group top 10 rankings for the event. Bella was also 4th in the SP.Mia Judd (Coach Tony Bateman) continued her fine form in the HJ to equal her pb and age group club record of 1.68m to take the silver medal in the U17W age group and Mia sits in 4th place in the UK age group rankings. Charlie Elford-Pond (coach Eric Davison) brought back two medals after securing a silver medal in the U17M hammer he also took bronze in the shot putt. Amy Wall (coach Andy Fisher) added to her championship medal tally this season by taking silver in the U17W LJ with a leap of 5.44m. Rebekah Smith (coach Andy Fisher) took U15W sprint hurdles silver with a time of 11.90 secs and was 8th in the LJ. Gracie Osman (coach Andy Fisher) took LJ silver with a leap of 5.18m in the U15G age group and will be back in this age group again next year. Gracie was also 7th in the 100m final and 4th in the HJ.There were some other fine performances in Chelmsford as Oliver Wye (coach Mark Upton) ran a pb of 12.541 secs in his U15B 100m heat and Oliver also competed in the 300m where he was 5th in his heat. Lucia Bertacchini (coach Andy Fisher) was 3rd in her 200m heat and just missed out on the final and was 11th in the LJ final. Training partner Izzy Jordan (coach Andy Fisher) was 8th in her 300m heat and 3rd in her 200m heat and 16th in the LJ. Poppy Taylor (coach Nick Anderson) was 4th in the U15G 1500m final but the highest finisher of all girls who will be back in this age group next year.Abi Belward (coach Andy Fisher) ran a pb of 46.62 secs to finish 5th in the U17W 300m hurdle final just ahead of training partner Carys Jeffries (coach Andy Fisher) who was 6th. Abi also finished 5th in the SP and 10th in the LJ with Carys finishing 9th in the LJ. Evie Scott (coach Martin McBriar) was 6th in the U15G hammer and Esme Buchanan (coach Andy Fisher) was 5th in the U13G HJ. Another amazing championships for the clubs young athletes and many of these will be action in again at the National age group champs in Bedford in two weeks time.
