Mia shines in Portsmouth

The 4th and last of the YDL upper age group league matches took place at the home of our composite partners Portsmouth yesterday and in perfect conditions for sprinters, throwers and jumpers the sun beated down all day.We finished 2nd on the day to end the league season in 3rd place on the same number of league points as Brighton & Hove AC and it has been a very succesful season in the U17 & U20 league with our own athletes complimenting those of Portsmouth and in truth the powerhouse club of Harrow AC competing with their composite partners Dacorum AC have been the best team all season and fully deserve their promotion. We will remain in league 1A of the upper age group for next season, the same league we have won promotion to for the lower age group. As always, there were some amazing performances on the day led by Mia Judd (coach Tony Bateman) who leapt to a new age group club record of 1.68m in the high jump and Charlie Elford Pond (coach Eric Davison) who added a further 50cm or so to his own hammer age group club record. The U17 athletes along with those from the U13 & U15 age groups will compete in the South of England age group champs in Chelmsford next weekend with the U20's joining the rest of the club in competing in our last SAL league match at our home track on Saturday.
