Track & Field catchup
I am back from my holiday and it is therefore time to catch up on some of the amazing track & field performances over the last two weeks.Stu McCallum (self coached) was in his usual record breaking form recording a time of 4.00.35 mins to smash his own club record in the mile at the Dave Clarke mile extravaganza event at Wimbledon on the 20th July. Stu was just a whisker away from being the first WADAC athlete to break the 4 minute mile barrier but with his current form it surely won't be long before he does this. Our SAL success on the 16th July was reported on but it is worth noting that this produced a number of new club records including Andrew Winterbottom (coach Nick Anderson) breaking the V35 Masters 5000m record going under 16 mins. Harry Wilson (coach Nick Anderson) broke his own 800m U17M age group record and the womens 4 x 100m relay team of Amy Wall, Charlotte Longden, Carys Jeffries & Tabitha Williamson (all coached by Andy Fisher) smashing the club record by over a second.Darcey Thorne-Henderson (coach Martin McBriar), Sam Evans & Lily Flute (coach Andy Fisher) all won their first county vests representing Hampshire in the U13 inter-county match in Kingston on the 24th July with Darcey improving her shot putt pb to go 3rd in the all time U13G rankings and Lily breaking Emma Buckett's long jump U13G club record. There were some fine performances in the Watford open meeting on Wednesday with Will Atkins, Kate Atkinson & Tom Hicks (all coached by Nick Anderson) all recording 1500m pb's and Erin Willmers (coach Nick Anderson) also recording a seasons best time. All club records have now been updated and can be found on the relevent part of the website. There have been so many broken this season that updating them all is quite a task.
