Winchester seniors hit top spots on a beautiful day for round 2 of the Hampshire League XCountry
Helen Hall led the senior women from start to finish looking comfortable all the way. A well-deserved number-one spot. Second home was Annie Mann in a strong 9th place. There was nothing bad about Kath Bailey’s performance with the evergreen veteran putting in her usual strong performance to come home in 28th position and 1st placed vet. The ever-consistent Ellie Swire came home in 31st place with 2nd-placed vet Jane Gandee not far behind in 33rd. Sam Parkinson was the final member of the vet's team, who maintained their 100% record of 1st place finishes in the league. Alison Fenwick completed the WADAC contingent, a good afternoon all around with the women's team finishing in 3rd place.
nAnd so to the men. With 1st place going to Basingstoke it was left to Will Boutwood and Freddie Slemeck to battle it out for the next two places with Will ultimately holding on for 2nd place with Freddie 3rd. Running with an extra ounce of desire was Guy Brayn who finished in 11th with the ever-improving Jacques Caignard not far behind in 23rd. Callum Upton and Dan Cunnington made up the final places in the men’s team, finishing one place better than on their last outing of 2nd place. A steady stream of WADAC finishers followed: Rich Bidgood, Jon Vintner, Humza Ahmed, Nick Davies and Rob Carter. The vet's team also finished in 2nd place, remaining joint 1st overall. Running to stand still was Colin McManus as he continues to build his fitness. David Vosser was the final WADAC finisher, taking a well-earned break from coaching to remind us all he can run a bit too. Lots of pride out there in the WADAC vests. Looking good for the Hampshire Champs which follows on closely from New Year's Day. U2 can enter this race via the Hampshire Athletics website,
