More sportshall success
The third of the 4 Hampshire sportshall league matches took place at Places Leisure in Eastleigh yesterday with once more the club well represented with 23 young athletes taking part under the guidance of sportshall Team Manager Steve Torrance.The U11 girls came 3rd on the day to consolidate their position of 2nd in the league. The young athletes compete in 6 events on the day with their finishing position counting in each event to provide a cumulative points total. Mia Gligorovski was 4th on the day having won the standing long jump event. Francesca Bertacchini was 5th, Imogen Allbut 19th & Grace Cater was 23rd to all combine for a team 3rd place finish. Ema Gligorovski was 31st & Fleur Robinson 32nd with 58 girls taking part.For the U11 boys Declan Dew was 4th on the day having won the 1 lap sprint. Arthur Cooney was 5th, Eli Walsh 8th and Harry Elliott completing the A team scorers in 10th. They combined to win the team event on the day and consolidate their position at the top of the league. Hogo Holt was 17th, Max Wadeson 20th, Lex Barker 35th & Alexander Wood 37th completing the B team scorers with the B team finishing 5th on the day. Leo o'Leary was 40th with 45 boys taking part.The U13 girls dominated their age group taking the first 3 places. Anais Andrews won on the day finishing 1st in 3 of the 6 events and 2nd in 2. Kezia Young was joint 2nd (winning the 4 lap sprint) along with training partner Megan Moat making her debut for the club. Polly Newman was 10th meaning the girrls won the team event to go top of the overall standings.The U13 boys had just 2 competitors but they were in great form with Rhys Wye winning on the day and coming 1st in no fewer than 4 of the 6 individual events. Jackson Purdie was 3rd. No club fielded a team of 4 competitors meaning WADAC hang on to the overall league lead in this age group.Two U15's competing as inidividuals these being Olivia Bartosiewicz who was 3rd on the day for the girls and Joel Stanton who was 2nd on the day for the boys.Attention now turns to the Regional sportshall finals in Burgess Hill on the 26th February where Hampshire sportshall Team Manager Steve Torrance will no doubt be relying on a number of WADAC youngsters to make up the Hampshire Team.
