John Mills wins the Harestock Handicap 2022 Series
Winning the overall series of the Harestock Handicap is no mean feat as it requires diary discipline and consistent performance throughout the year. With 8 races from 12 to count the winner is generally drawn from those who take part most often but there are many possible winning combinations and the title is often up for grabs right through till the December event.
nThe 2022 wasn't like that however as an event Newbie, John Mills, ran his first ever Handicap in January then proceeded to win the next two races and complete all 12 races in the season.....much as we tried to keep the suspense going it was never really that close.
nCongratulations though to Louise Snook on finishing 2nd overall and fulfilling a long held ambition to get her hands on one of our prestigious 12 out of 12 medals. Kudos also to Ian Parker 3rd overall and bagging 2 wins in the year. It was a strange year for the handicapper as Matt Gleed was also a two-time winner so like busses they all came along at once.
nFinally special mention for Kevin Frisby and Karen Hazlitt who completed their 50th Handicap event during 2022 and are now both proud holders of one of our very special and bespoke 50 run medals.
nThat's it for 2022, we've now completed 11 years of the handicap, including 2398 race efforts, and touched the lives of 324 different athletes.
nTurning to 2023, it all starts again on the first Thursday of January (the 5th Jan ie TONIGHT) at the bus-stop warmed up and ready to start at 19.30......remember if you don't do the January event you have no chance of completing 12 out of 12.
