WADAC Juniors at the National XCountry CHampionships
nAfter the last couple of years of mud, small lakes and raging torrents, the course was relatively flat, fast and green but still a challenge to the large numbers of runners who attended.
n
nThe first WADAC runners of the day were the U15 boys with Reuben Price leading the way with a fine 19th place. He was supported by Casper Wilson (121), Seth Noot (128), Sam Wilkinson (146) and Aiden Furby (184) who all finished within 35 seconds of each other. A top 10 team finish well deserved. With no U13 girls traveling, the U17 men were next to race over the 6km course. Will Atkins continued his fine form finishing in an excellent 25th position. Stanley Parkinson was the only other runner, happy to be back racing after missing the majority of the season through injury.
n
nThe U13 boys acquitted themselves well with Luke Furby first home in 57th place, closely followed by Tom Saville, Oli Foden and George Oldroyd. An excellent 10th place team finish. Kate Atkinson was WADAC’s sole representative in the U15 girls race but gave her usual gutsy performance finishing the 4k course in 63rd place.
n
nWell done to all those athletes who traveled and did the club proud and thank you to the parents and supporters who made this possible. As always, the Nationals are the highlight of the xcountry season and it was good to see the black and gold out on the course.
n
nThere is an immediate return to action this Saturday for the final round of the Hampshire League at Bournemouth.
